Okay day 7 and yes it is game day, Super Bowl XLVI plays out today. So whether you are a tried and
true football fan or just in it for the commercials, there are usually some
great parties to be had. So if it is a
small group of friends or a big old bunch of party hounds have yourselves a blast.
Today I am thinking
our H50 ohana are just going to hang out everyone bring a little something as
the watch the game on the office big screen.
So today's mission pair a recipe for this potluck party with each of our
hero's, or at least what I think they may contribute.
I have paired an appetizer recipe (pupus) for each of our 5-0's to bring
to the party.
Danno's Bacon Bites
1-13-oz.can pineapple chunks drained
1/2 lb bacon cut in half
1) Preheat broiler.
2) Wrap with a
strip of bacon around each pineapple, secure with toothpick. Broil 5-8 minutes till bacon is crisp.
3) Serve hot.
1 yellow onion
1 bell pepper, seeded (red or green)
8 ounces pineapple chunks
1 container cherry tomatoes
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1/4 cup agave (or honey)
1 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
Ground pepper to taste
Skewers, soaked in water
1. Cut pepper and onion into even 1 inch chunks. Drain
and reserve the juice from the pineapple chunks.
2. In a medium bowl mix the pineapple juice with brown
sugar, agave, garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce and pepper until sugar
dissolves.
3. Take half of the marinade and toss with beef strips in a
sealed bag. Let these marinate for 30 minutes.
4. Use skewers to pierce and hold the vegetables and beef
strips. Preheat grill to medium high.
5. Grill kabobs for 20 minutes, turning frequently and
brushing with marinade often.
Kono’s Passion Fruit Rice
3 cups Passion fruit juice
2 vegetable or chicken bouillon cubes
4 tablespoons butter
1 cup rice
2 oz. slivered toasted almonds
1) Preheat
oven to 350 degrees F.
2) Bring
passion fruit juice to boil, dissolve bouillon cubes in juice.
3) In a
separate pan heat butter and brown rice until golden. Transfer rice to 1-quart
casserole.
4) Pour
boiling passion fruit juice over rice. Sprinkle with almonds. Bake, uncovered,
50 minutes, or until rice is tender.
Malia's Pizza Appetizers
½ package frozen puff pastry sheets ( 1 sheet)
Garlic powder
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
¼ cup thinly sliced smoked ham
1⁄8; cup finely peppers (red or green or combination)
¼ cup crushed drained pineapple
¼ teaspoon dried oregano leaves, crushed
1) Preheat
oven to 400°F. Thaw pastry as per package directions.
2) Unfold pastry on lightly floured surface, roll into 15x10-inch rectangle cut in half
lengthwise and place on baking sheets.
Prick thoroughly with fork. Sprinkle with garlic. Bake 10 minutes.
3) Top with
cheese, ham, pepper, pineapple and oregano, bake 5 minutes or until cheese
melts. Cut each pizza into 16 squares.
3 Italian sausage links (hot or mild or combo)
1/4 lb Genoa salami sliced thin
1/4lb pepperoni sliced thin
1/4lb Virginia ham sliced thin
1/4 lb sliced provolone cheese
1/4 lb sliced mozzarella cheese
1 bell pepper (red or green) sliced
1 small onion sliced
* optional 1/4 cup Spam cubed *
1 egg beaten
1) Preheat oven to 450 degrees
2) Remove sausage from casing and saute till cooked then set aside; if using Spam brown it now and set aside; add a little oil to pan saute peppers and onions then set aside.
3) Roll out dough, and place on the large sheet pan you will bake on. Now GO WILD fill your roll just make sure to leave a 1 inch space around the entire edge.
4) Roll the filled dough wide side over on its self (maybe 3 times depending on filling), then just make sure the seam is on the bottom of the pan. pinch close all open seams.
5) Brush top with egg wash then bake till golden brown about 15-20 minutes.
The Kamekona Roll
1 package pizza dough3 Italian sausage links (hot or mild or combo)
1/4 lb Genoa salami sliced thin
1/4lb pepperoni sliced thin
1/4lb Virginia ham sliced thin
1/4 lb sliced provolone cheese
1/4 lb sliced mozzarella cheese
1 bell pepper (red or green) sliced
1 small onion sliced
