Dessert Thursday

Mea 'ai momona Po'aha, yes happy dessert Thursday my friends and the girls are looking for something sweet to eat because they are in a playful mood.  Lets face it Kono she has a gut instinct that rivals the boss's, so a reason to smile.  Then again knowing dessert is coming is a reason to smile as well.

Then we have Gabby and Gracie also just as playful knowing all along that playing in the sand is not the only way to get along.  Girls love to bond over their sweets, oh maybe they can share a little with Danno if he behaves himself.

Graham Kerr said  "I prefer to regard a dessert as I would imagine the perfect woman: subtle, a little bittersweet, not blowsy and extrovert. Delicately made up, not highly rouged. Holding back, not exposing everything and, of course, with a flavor that lasts."  This totally describes our ladies to a T.

Ioei Key Lime Pie

1 graham cracker crust (use a premade one or use box follow instructions)
4 egg yolks
1 can (14 ounces) condensed milk
2/3 cup fresh Key lime juice
1 lime, grated zest
1 cup heavy or whipping cream, chilled
2 Tbsp. confectioners' sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°.
  2. Using an electric mixer whip the egg yolks and lime zest at high speed until fluffy, about 5 to 6 minutes. Slowly add the condensed milk and continue to whip until thick, 3 to 4 minutes longer. Lower the mixer speed and slowly add the lime juice until incorporated.
  3. Pour the mixture into the crust and bake for 15 minutes, or until the filling has just set Cool on a wire rack, and then refrigerate for 20 minutes.
  4. Make topping, whip cream, confectioners' sugar and vanilla until nearly stiff. Evenly spread the whipped cream on top of the pie, and place in the freezer for 20 minutes prior to serving.
